At first glance, President Lyndon Baines Johnson's handwritten note, (to the right), appears to read, 'President's throat doctor -- Did the operation.' However, the 'c' would have curved over at the top, and the 'r' would have ended with a flourish, as may be seen on the June 4 document, (below). The 'd' is an 'R,' with the stem removed. The stem crosses the 't.' The 'c' is an 's,' and the 'r' is a 'w,' and the note actually does read, "President's throat Rostow -- Did the operation," as was confirmed by the late-Sarah McClendon, ("and others").

It is a quote from President Johnson's Defense Secretary, Clifford Clark, who had telephoned Johnson while he was in a meeting, in the Cabinet Room, with Senator Robert Francis Kennedy, and President John Fitzgerald Kennedy's two speechwriters, Ted Sorensen, and Professor Doctor Walt Whitman Rostow, while Rostow was seated to Johnson's left. Johnson said that he was, "too busy," to take the call, but the Secretary persisted, saying that it was, "urgent."

Johnson took the call and began to write: "President's throat Rostow -- Did the operation." He then stood, hung up the phone, and slid the note across the Cabinet Room Table to Robert Kennedy, who then asked Rostow to come see if he could, "make out," (Johnson's), written note. Rostow dutifully walked around the Cabinet Room Table, to Kennedy, who swung the Vice President's Chair around, and punched Rostow square in his solar plexis, (according to another reporter), and White House minute-by-minute photographs of the meeting...

The June 4, 1968, note, (below), was actually written in the early morning hours of June 5, (some twenty-seven minutes after Bobby was shot), and is a surreptitious dictation of Rostow's call, to Johnson, who initialed, 'LBJ,' (making it a signed and dated affidavit), then, "Guard him Carol," (Carol Territo, President Johnson's Archivist), "Keep away from Press," "way interrogated," "not to do things that will create error," "movie made," and, "send in to get Castro," "planning," "Ed Morgan," and "Costra Nostra," (La Cosa Nostra). The late-Walt Rostow was always 'planning' something.

These items were found, by this writer, in the 14-million item National Archives in the Lyndon Johnson Museum and Library at the University of Texas in Austin, after three days of search, on February 14, 1992, and at great risk, (George Herbert Walker Bush was president), and it has been an adventure in survival ever since.

I am currently living well below the poverty line, so, if you like my website, and you can spare a dollar, or five, or heck, even a million, (or whatever you can spare), that would be very nice, and maybe that way I can finally write in peace, and not pieces. Please send your contribution to:
